We are all doomed: the anthropology of an apocalypse

Last month a national paper carried an article by Joel Day entitled, Nuclear war no longer off the table as Putin normalises the apocalypse. The article went on to raise the fear of a global conflict that could result in the use of nuclear weapons and end in the destruction of humanity.

Discussing this possibility with colleagues and friends reminded me of a paper I gave back in 2013 when I explored the human trait, across cultures and religions, to believe in an inevitable apocalypse.

I have attached the paper below as I thought it might be of interest in these dark times.
