Writer's picture: Tim BoatswainTim Boatswain

Freedom is a complex concept that can be interpreted in various ways. It generally refers to the ability to act or change as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

Here are some common interpretations:

  • Individual freedom: The ability to make choices and decisions without interference from others.

  • Political freedom: The right to participate in government and freely express oneself.

  • Economic freedom: The ability to engage in economic activities without

government intervention.

  • Personal freedom: The ability to live one's life as desired, free from constraints.

What is the relationship between freedom and laws, social norms, and personal circumstances?

Is personal freedom (freewill) a delusion because our gods, genes, culture and neurons determine every thought and move we make?
