Diocletian's Palace in Split Revisited

Back in March 2022, I gave a talk on Diocletian, Christianity, and St. Alban, for St Albans Cathedral {https://timboatswain.wixsite.com/website/post/diocletian-christianity-and-st-alban}

And, some years ago I gave a lecture on Diocletian's Emperorship actually in the basement of Diocletian's Palace in Split.


My connection to the Palace goes back even further in that one of the lecturers in my undergraduate days was Professor John Wilkes, who excavated at the Palace [Wilkes, J. J. (1993). Although I have been a regular visitor to the Palace I had not been there for over a year until today. It doesn't matter how many times you go, there are always interesting elements of amazing architecture to see again.

Below is the incredibly detailed cornice and frieze on the Temple of Jupiter:
